Year in Barbie

Wednesday, December 31, 2014

This year I grew in love with creating Barbie designs. Something about sewing something so small is cool to me. I wanted to showcase my favorite designs of the year.

All of these outfits found new homes in the new year!

Vintage Hang Tag Set DIY Idea

Tuesday, December 30, 2014

I love to add cute little tags to the crochet hats I make for photographers. It' makes a perfect touch to a certain gift.

If you ever go to Joanns or any other craft store make you print out a 40% off coupon. This way you're saving money.

This paper actually has an awesome texture to it. You can feel the swirls on the pink side and the texture on the other end. Pretty cool

The paper was 2 for $1 at Joanns!

DIY: Dressform Christmas Tree Idea

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

So I decided to dress up my dressform for the holiday season. This is just an idea for those who have a sewing room, and want to dress it up for the holidays!

No pins needed. The garland is wire so if you tighten it around your dressform it wont fall off. The ornament hooks were used on the bottom where I hung up the ornaments I got from Big Lots last year.  It's dressed up with real candy canes I got from Stop and Shop. Yay Star-bursts!

Holiday Purchase

Monday, December 8, 2014

December Shopping Swing

Monday, December 1, 2014

It's December! Christmas is in full swing here, and we're decorating, and some how turning this place into a Christmas Wonderland. I started and finished Bean and Sprouts Christmas shopping on black Friday after work. I picked up a BOGO on transformer toys, and found official Pillow Pets at Five Below. How exciting.

So far I spent less that $50 on over $150 dollars worth of stuff. I didn't wake up at a crazy time, I waited until I got out of work, and I didn't wait in any lines either. So it was worth it!

I'm taking it easy for the holiday season, and having fun. Smiles all the way through the season!

Pattern DVD?

I was thinking maybe I can create a CD or DVD with my original barbie patterns. I'm sure many others like it may exists, but hey... you never know. Maybe I make stuff that is cool and someone else wants to make it in their own colors and fabrics.

I kinda wanted to combine all the vintage barbie patterns I have as well. I have to check the copyright law's on that, but I'm sure the ones I already have were made before the whole copyright thing came into play.

Who knows, right now it's just an idea, but I would love to do that.

What I Purchased: Holiday Edition

First Holiday purchase of the season! Joann Fabrics 1 Yard, $6.99! I'm so excited to see what I create with this.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 27, 2014

Hello everyone! Happy Thanksgiving. I hope everyone has a safe and family filled day. Smile and enjoy every moment.

I have the day off, and it's going to be a quiet day here with Grams, Bean, Sprout and myself. I wanted to go to New York, but it snowed yesterday and it was a little over 6 inches of snow.

I'm looking forward to getting the Holiday season up and going!

So I'm off to enjoy a quiet day, I hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving.

Parenting obstacles.

Monday, July 21, 2014

Parenting isn’t easy for anyone. Both parents, single, or even grandparents. Being a parental figure takes a lot of hard work and is full of obstacles. I wake up in the middle of the night and wonder if I’m doing it right. When I have to put Sprout in time out I hurts me more than it hurts him I’m sure. I’m not super woman, and I wish I was. I wish I could take the teething pain away from Bean. I wish I can take the pain away from my kiddos. So many obstacles, and there’s more such as:
1.       Potty Training… It sucked, and it will suck but no more diapers looks good to me.
2.       Time out’s…I give Sprout a warning before he goes to time out, and they usually are 4 minutes, unless he does something completely out of line and it doubles to 8.
3.       Teething… it’s a challenge any way you slice it.
4.       Temper Tantrums… Sprout no longer throws them, but Bean throws at least one every day. We almost expect a meltdown before lunch time every day when she’s due for a nap.
5.       Boo boo’s… I can’t prevent all of them, I wish I can take the pain away.
6.       Teaching Sprout the value of money, explaining that everything has a cost, and if he wants a toy, now he has to earn it doing chores and helping with Bean.

If you know a perfect parent, please lead me to them.

What are some parenting obstacles you deal with?

New parent, what not to buy.

Monday, July 14, 2014

You ever buy anything that you didn’t use? When you’re a new parent you want to make sure everything is all set before your little sprout comes. Where does all the stuff you don’t use go? In my case it’s donated to Goodwill or on the curbside where people can pick it up. I wanted to write this post because I wanted to tell you (in my honest opinion) the worse and useless things I got for baby. Maybe this will help you out!

1.       Changing pad for the top of the dresser
2.       Changing table (we usually use the add on which came with the playpen, or just do it on the bed.)
3.       Baby Swing, she hates it.
4.       Grass looking drying rack, falls apart easily. I just got a separate dish rack
5.       Newborn clothes, they grow so fast
6.       Burp clothes, just use a bib… most the time the spittle will be on your shirt though. Just a heads up!
7.       Shoes…
8.       Baby food maker, just use a blender.
9.       Sleep Positioner
10.   Bouncy Chair, she hates this as well.

I hope I was able to save you a couple dollars or HUNDREDS! This is just in my opinion. Every baby and every parent is different.

What are some things that you bought that were useless?
